For business leaders, switching off is easier said than done. But even the most driven minds need a breather. Whether it's catching up on a favourite series, spending time with loved ones, or planning the next getaway, weekends offer a rare chance to pause. Jyoti Sharma, CEO, Nasscom Foundation, speaks to BrandWagon Online about how she unwinds, her go-to vacation spot, and what weekends look like beyond the boardroom.
When I am not working, I really look forward to our weekly movie night with my kids—it’s a tradition that brings us together. Or sometimes, I like to just unwind by cooking up a storm in the kitchen. I love to eat and cook for my children.
I like slowing down and soaking in the little joys. I love taking morning walks or planning small picnics in Delhi’s beautiful parks especially when the weather is kind. I also enjoy catching up with friends at one of the city’s many lovely cafes, catching up over hot chocolate, sweet treats, and simple conversations. It’s my way of reconnecting—not just unwinding but also nurturing the other parts of who I am: a friend, a mother, and a working woman constantly juggling many hats.
Honestly, my phone and Alexa are my real most valuable players. My phone helps me stay on top of everything be it work, messages, distant loved ones, even those quick grocery orders. And then there’s Alexa, which I love for my daily dose of music. Whether I am working, cooking or just relaxing, there’s always something playing in.
I often fantasize about being a travel and food blogger. With my constant wanderlust, it would have been a dream job to just go from place to place—exploring local history, soaking in different cultures and of course, tasting all kinds of amazing cuisines. The idea of learning through experiences and storytelling really excites me. Maybe one day!
I love being close to nature, so anywhere with thick forests, wildlife, peaceful sunrises, long morning walks, and good food is my kind of vacation. That said, I am equally drawn to places rich in history—walking through old streets, exploring monuments, and soaking in the stories of the past really excites me.
I have two movie recommendations:
The Pursuit of Happiness — A real timeless story of resilience, hope, and perseverance.
Up — A heartwarming, animated film that blends fun and emotion, reminding us to embrace life’s adventures and proving that it’s never too late to chase one.
